Summary/Objective

  • A lead erector is someone with a lot of scaffolding experience but not quite the foreman experience yet. This job is to transition into Foreman training.
  • The Skilled Scaffold E&D facilitates the installation of fixed scaffolding and swing stage scaffolding. A scaffold builder is required to work as a member of an erection & dismantling crew and will build and dismantle scaffolds in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards, at the request of Stone Mountain Access customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Load trucks from SMA with proper materials for job as directed.
    • Transport equipment to and from worksites in SMA owned vehicles.
    • Build scaffold properly and in accordance with common practices and OSHA standards
    • Assist in the movement of equipment on and off truck and to the job site.

    • Align, level and anchor equipment.
    • Perform proper work area preparation prior to start the erection, modification or dismantle of scaffolding and keep good housekeeping.
    • Installing toe boards, guardrails, ladders, etc. on scaffold structures and cantilevers.
    • Ability to identify hazards and safety risks and complete a Job Safety Analysis to control and mitigate those hazards.
    • Observe safe practices and use proper climbing techniques.
    • Communicate efficiently and respectfully with team members

Supervisory Responsibility

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts or in high, precarious positions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud up to 35% of the time. This position is performed in all weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, first shift, 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

  • Occasional day and overnight travel is expected for this position.

Education and Experience

  • 2-5 years related experience in construction industry and building scaffolding required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English required.

Math Skills

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100ss. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one – or two – step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Computer Skills

  • None required for this position.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Driver’s license required.
